Hi, so is better to say is somethng new. because every country has specific architectures of course. Maybe you haven't seen here old wooden churches, that is all. I am sorry you missed that :) So is better to ask why is like that than to say is unusual. Some of tehm are since the beggining of Orthodoxy here, so of course by then there were not cathedrals :))

Hi Iorga I was in Romania but I never saw before this kind of architecture so for me it is somethinkg new :)

Dear Sergei, these architecture of wooden Romanian churches are old since more than 1000 years ago. Romania is Orthodox since 2000 years ago. Please, tell me, why do you consider them always unusual? They are very important and and specific architectures for Romanian tradition. So, please, if you search more in history of church architectures, you will find that actually these are between the most normal orthodox architectures. All the best to you!
