The monastery was founded by Serbian King Milutin dedicated to St. George, built the 1313th to 1318. Above the door is a carved inscription of the donor of King Milutin and preserved fresco showing the holding model this church. After the defeat and death at the Battle of Velbuzd 1330th here is buried Bulgarian Emperor Michael III Sisman.
