Лепо је да наша браћа и сестре (са сајта) који не говоре српски знају све ове податке о нашим манастирима и свецима. Зато треба увек писати коментаре и на енглеском. Поздрав Душану.

Perovic T. thanks for translation and all additional information’s about Zavala Monastery and St.Vasilije.
I’d like to ad, that St. Vasilije was born in village Mrkonjici just cross over the Popovo valley. Like a boy, his parents were sent him ( 1620) to his uncle who was Iguman ( main priest or head of) of Monastery Zavala. The main reason was to protect him from Turks. During his stay in Zavala he was in able to look on Georgie Mitrofanovic Hilandarac work, the great Freska painter because they were there at the same time. Few years later St.Vasilije, still the boy, has gone to Tvrdos Monastery, and there he became the monk.
It is interesting that Zavala Monastery with the half of building and roof is inside of the mountain. The name of this mountain is Ostrog , like the name of Monastery of St. Vasilije.

He is risen indeed! Thanks, I would like to visit these places, I have visited other orthodox countries, but not Serbia and Bosnia. I think they are very similar to Romania than the others. :)

Mihaela, try to go to Ostrog monastery too if you have a chance! It is a magnificant place where one can actualy feel the power of St Vasilije's miracles! All the best to you! Christ is Risen!

To jmatusiak and iorga: In the photo you can see the bell tower of monastery Zavala which was being reconstructed at the moment the photo was taken – 2003.
Going towards it is the prior to monastery Tvrdosh, father Sava. In the background you can see a field called Popovo polje.
St Basil (Vasilije) of Ostrog, a Wonderworker, was born in Popovo selo in Herzegovina and as an Archbishop lived in monastery Tvrdosh, before moving to Ostrog monastery. The commemoration day of St Basil is next Friday, on May 12th.
His relics in Ostrog monastery are miracleworking and a large number of both mentally and physically ill, paralyzed, exhausted or troubled in any way go there and are cured. God is glorious in His Saints!

This is a nice place. It looks like a prayer place for a hermit. Is that? 3

Сећам се Поповог поља давно као дете када је плавило и изгледало као језеро, сад је каналисано. Све похвале за обнављање манастира. Поздрав! 3
