@nikosart. I didn't know the history with the church that has been build by St. Helen on this place. Thanks for your comment.
nikosart2009.11.30 [10:31]
Dear gabriel77 as I said it is not my attitude to offend you or any other here. Actually I am very pleased that sometimes our (controversial?) photos offer the opportunity for sharing our thoughts and understanding on what is Orthodoxy. As you have seen I didn’t excluded Greece (the country where I was born and live), although Christianity came here only a few years after the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ in relation to other Orthodox countries. I didn’t choose Rumania, Russia or Greece to offend anyone. But when we consider of Orthodoxy these are some of the places we first think about.
Let me explain again why I do believe that this photo is OK for Orthphoto to my understanding. The place where the "Dome of the Rock" is located is Sacred for all the three religions of Jerusalem, for deferent reasons of course. For us as Christians this is the place where, according to the tradition, the Holy of Holies of both Solomon's Temple and Herod's Temple was located. As you know our Most Holy Theotokos was brought up in the Holy of Holies. Also numerous events in the New Testament and in the Acts of the Apostles took place here. According to another tradition St. Helen built a small church here, calling it the Church of St. Cyrus and St. John. Later the church was enlarged and dedicated to the Holy Wisdom. Of course you are right, nothing of it exist anymore. Today it is a place of worship for the Moslems. Actually Jews and Christians are not permitted to pray here, they can only visit the place. But still, this is also a part of who we are and that’s why it is worthy to remember our past by posting such photos for instance. Thank you for your time.

@nikosart:
1. I never said that Christinatity was formed in my country (Romania)
2. I never said that pictures from Israel are not suitable for orthphoto site. You can look back and I can see a lot of positive comments and "Thank you!" written by myself to the people that posted pictures from Israel, because that pictures displayed very important holy places for all Orthodox-Christian believers.
But this particular picture, I consider is not connected to the Orthodox faith because is focused on a mosque.
3. I recommend you to think twice or more when you want to accuse someone for a certain thing.
nikosart2009.11.29 [15:07]
Please do not consider my comment as an offensive to anyone, this is not my attitude, but Christianity was not formed in the beginning in Romania or Russia, not even in Greece! God choose to reveal His truth first here. His only begotten Son was crucified and resurrected in the Holy City. He preached the Good News of salvation in this exactly place many times. The Pentecost took place in Jerusalem too. According to the tradition here was also set the Arc of the Covenant. I see many reasons why this photo is related to the theme of the site, at least in my understanding. The fact that this is not a place for Christian Worship is another question. We should not forget how the Holy Trinity revealed the Truth in the beginning. This is part of our Orthodox Christian identity too!

gabriel772009.11.27 [13:28]
I don't see reasons for Christians to pray in this place
m.stefanovic2009.11.27 [12:12]
This is not an Orthodox Church, and this could not be a place for Divine Lithurgy, and other Orthodox Church services. But (as I am thinking) this could be a place of pilgrimage for orthodox christians, and place for inner prayer (outside of mosque of course). (Place of inner prayer could be everywhere - see Jn. 4. 21-24)
gabriel772009.11.27 [11:44]
I wanted to say that this place cannot be a prayer place for Christians.
Novakovic2009.11.27 [11:39]
m.stefanovic2009.11.27 [10:53]
God is not present in the ruins, but in meta-space of this place, outside of time borders.
Mat 21. 12-13
gabriel772009.11.27 [10:35]
I don't believe that God is present in the ruins of Solomon Temple
gabriel772009.11.27 [10:33]
Sfânta Evanghelie după Luca, cap 23

m.stefanovic2009.11.27 [08:52]
Of course that faith is more important, but orthodox people who visit Holy Land come there with faith, and through eyes of faith thay see presence of God and all saints on places of meta-space and meta-time of Old and New Testament.
gabriel772009.11.26 [17:41]
Temple of Solomon has been destroyed on the God will.
gabriel772009.11.26 [17:37]
I think is more important is the faith of people not stones/buildings.
We should remember the miraculous event occured in the year of 1579, when Armenians (monophysites - ed.) paid the Turks in order to obtain permission for their Patriarch to enter the Holy Sepulchre and the Orthodox Patriarch forced to stay with his flock at the exit of the church. On Great Saturday the Holy Light split a column from outside vertically and flashed near the Orthodox Patriarch. Monophysites didn't get the Holy Light, even they was in the Holy Sepulchre.
m.stefanovic2009.11.26 [17:03]
Becouse Jerusalem is Holy City, city of David, Solomon, Melhisedek, and city of meta-space of old and new testament, city of death and resurection of our Lord Jesus Christ, city of foundation of early church and so on...
m.stefanovic2009.11.26 [17:01]
But also I think that general landcapes from Jerusalem are appropriate for site.
m.stefanovic2009.11.26 [17:00]
Maybe You are right; Pictures of kneseth, goverment buildings and modern apartment blocks probably are not for this site. But on this picture is Temple mount, holy and transcedental place, and I think this picture is OK for site.
gabriel772009.11.26 [16:54]
more precisely, I disagree with: "every picture from Jerusalem is absolutely appropriate on this site"
gabriel772009.11.26 [16:47]
@m.stefanovic: Sorry, I disagree with that.
gabriel772009.11.26 [16:45]
Thank you again, Danijela!
m.stefanovic2009.11.26 [16:41]
Meaning of previous comment was that Jerusalem is Holy and Transcedental city, and every picture from Jerusalem is absolutely appropriate on this site. Place on this picture is Temple Mount, holiest place from Old Testament, with metaphysical presence of Holy Virgin and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Danijela2009.11.26 [16:39]
Gabriel, on this place was the temple of Solomon in which was introduced Virgin Mary and there was the Old Testament coffin. So this place is imporant to ortodox people (please forgive me on my bad english :)
m.stefanovic2009.11.26 [16:37]
I have tried to translate my previous comment, but it was too dificult for me, becouse this translacitoon could be wrong.
m.stefanovic2009.11.26 [16:34]

Glorify the Lord, O Jerusalem! +++++
gabriel772009.11.26 [16:22]
Thank you Danijela for your help! I know that religions are interwined in this place, but this picture has the main subject a mosque. And I don't see any orthodox symbols around, like a church/a cross/icon.
So, I don't think that is for this site.

Dear Miodrag Novakovic,
My solidarity.
Danijela2009.11.26 [15:59]
Gabriel77, Mr. Novakovic made the photo report from the Holy Land and this photo belongs to thath report. in this description said that in Jerusalem there are 4 confessions and they are intertwined, as is the case in this photo.

CIA factbook for Albania: Muslim 70%, Albanian Orthodox 20%, Roman Catholic 10%
Novakovic2009.11.26 [15:37]
gabriel772009.11.26 [15:11]
I said that because this place is very important for islam, strange to see here on this site. Maybe is a dedication to the Albanian hackers that just created a lot of troubles to Alik? :-)
You are most welcome gabriel77!
