I apologize to Tichon. I did not mean to hurt your feelings or to be judgmental. I’ve known for a long time about The Holy Mountain Grabarka and the Orthodox pilgrimages over there. We’ve talked about this with people from our church (Russian Orthodox Church). By the way, our priest is not from Poland, but from Slovakia (generally none orthodox country), and I am blessed to have him as my spiritual father.
But my opinion is my opinion and I do not like this photo and this behavior. But as you see most of the people like it, so you may possibly disregard my remarks.
Please, forgive me!
God bless you:
Ekaterina

Sorry Ivan, it was just a remark, I hope I wasn't offensive. Similar catholic influences exists in my country, in Trasylvania, because they have been many centuries under Austro-Hungarian empire administration. People who lived there they have done a lot sacrifices to keep their orthodox faith and I admire them. The same admiration I have for Orthodox Christians from Poland.

"The object of the Stations is to help the faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage of prayer to the chief scenes of Christ's sufferings and death, and this has become one of the most popular devotions for Roman Catholics."
This kind of devotion apeared in the West of Europe in the medieval period, after the great schism.

In Evul Mediu exista la catolici obiceiul auto-flagelarilor in public. Existau oameni care se rastigneau la propriu in Vinerea Mare dupa care erau coborati si li se asigura asistenta medicala. Sau "sfinti" cu darul stigmatelor. La ortodocsi nu exista asa ceva.
In cazul de fata vad o inf

I do not see her showing off their faith... rather I see someone prostrating in humility before God... only God knows the heart!!!
mihaela2008.01.29 [22:39]
In Moldova n-am vazut un asemenea obicei. In Tara Romaneasca, un caz izolat.

I am really amazed about comments to this photo, as not being entirely orthodox. here is a similar procession in Greece
http://www.orthphoto.net/photo.php?id=7033&id_jezyk=1
and we have also same procession at Monastery Nicula on Dormition of Mother of God. For me it is very orthodox.
what I wrote in forst line it was a joke, of course.

I see here an influence of catholicism..dificult to give a mark for this photo.

I do not agree with tincheto. I think this photo represent that is very imoprtant in Orthodox. Off course it is my opinion. Sorry for my English.
Według mnie jest to piękne "prawosławne" zdjęcie!!!

I think this is not truly orthodox behavior. Here, it is like a theater.
Orthodox people are modest, “smirennie”, and do not show their faith in this way. They just try to be invisible, especially when they repent and pray and try to do good things to the others and to worship God.
Orthodox spirituality is God-centered, whereas all others (like in this photo) are man-centered. This is a small part of what I would like to say. I am sorry, for my poor language. I wish to have the God’s gift for saying better what I think and feel.
