Sunday of Orthodoxy, St. Sava Jackson
The Orthodox faithful from the Mother Lode and Central Valley came to Jackson on March 20, 2016, to celebrate with the clergy the Sunday of Orthodoxy (first Sunday of the Great Lent) commemorating the return of the Icons to Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, the defeat of the iconoclasts and opposition to all heterodoxy by Empress Theodora in 843.
