Winner of Adobe-OrthPhoto Prize Competition – September 2011

We have the pleasure to inform you that our September winner is a heart touching picture of Tomek Poskrobko (ZAC), again from Poland :)  May be this prize is a little proof of Tomek’s words that the photography could be valuable when there is something to show and to share with others. Thank you for sharing this so important and beautiful personal moment, Tomek!

As usual, we asked our winner to say some words about himself. Here they are his answers:
“I’m 33 years old scientist in field of economics. I’ve interested in photography for twenty years. Nevertheless, I’m still an amateur photographer – not because of the lack of skills or experience, but because of the passion that I carry.
Everything started at about 1995 when I became a member of Maciej Religa’s small foto-club. There I learned basic skills: camera work principles, shooting black and white film, basics of the darkroom etc. But all these were just technical skills. This knowledge helped me only in one - to get a little bit better pictures than my friends do, nothing more.
My real adventure with photography started before seven years, when I realized that photography could be valuable only if you have something essential to show and feel that you must show it to others. For me that unique, worth to be shown “thing” is Podlasie - region of Poland. Beautiful natural landscapes, distinctive architecture of villages, orthodox religion and culture – all this come together to form a unique atmosphere and charm, which have to be shown.
Now I’m trying to realize my “foto-mission” in few different ways – first, to show my pictures in orthphoto.net, second and more important thing for me at the moment is an initiative called “Magic of Podlasie” in which I’m co-founder.
The prized photo is taken during my friend’s wedding in Christ's Resurrection Church in Bialystok (September , 2011). The smoke from the candles and the sunlight from the window created beautiful and meaningful background for the ceremony.”

Congratulations, Tomek! We are glad that you are part of OrthPhoto community and that you are sharing your photos with us!
