Winner of Adobe-Orthphoto prize competition – February, 2011
Vladimir was quite modest about himself, but we learned very interesting details about the picture and the place it has been taken. Here it is Vladimir’s story: “I am a photographer of the Russian Orthodox magazine “Foma”. The photo was taken in Yaroslavsky Region of Russia in February 2011. The Sit-Pokrovskoye village, where the church is situated, is famous by the battle in 1238 in which Russians were defeated and Mongol Yoke began, it lasted more than 200 years. The priest, father Anatoly (Denisov), serves the liturgy in memory of that event each year. He also restores two churches, one in Sit-Pokrovskoye village, and another in Semenovskoye village.
In the day the photo was taken there was very cold, the temperature was lower than –30, but the liturgy was served and procession of the Cross made in Semenovskoye village.”
Congratulations, Vladimir! We’re looking forward to your new photos!
