The 2nd OrthPhoto International Photo Exhibition in Iasi, Romania



The Metropolis of Moldavia and Bukovina
, in partnership with The Centre for Touristic Promotion Association in Iaşi, will organize, between October 9 and October 16, 2011, the second Orthphoto International Photo Exhibition called Orthodox Monasticism. The host of this event will be The Golia Tower, part of the Golia Monastery Historical Monument Ensemble.

The exhibition vernissage will be on Sunday, the 9th of October 2011, starting at 1 o’clock pm. The host of the vernissage will be Dr. Daniel Mazilu and the speakers will be:
- Protosyncellus Hrisostom Rădăşanu, counselor of Education at The Metropolis of Moldavia and Bukovina;
- Mother Siluana Vlad, the coordinator of the Holy Archangels Formation and Counseling Centre and the hegumenia of Saint Silouan The Athonite Monastery in Iaşi;
- Carmen Chiorcea, head of the Centre for Touristic Promotion Association in Iași;
- Ionuț Trandafirescu, the coordinator of Orthphoto Romania.

The current exhibition reunites 200 photographs (chosen from almost 500 photos of 102 photographers) from 25 countries. Furthermore, Orthphoto exhibition is open to all photographic art lovers between 11 am and 5 pm throughout the days of the exhibition. Orthphoto (www.orthphoto.net) is an online community (active on the internet from 2004) of amateur and professional photographers from all over the world, preoccupied with the exploration and popularization of the Orthodox space through photography. This exhibition takes place simultaneously in Bulgaria, Serbia, Poland and Russia, and in our country it will travel to Mioveni, Pitești, Iași, and then Bucharest, Câmpina, and others. The works’ imprinting has been sponsored by Mioveni Cultural Centre. The main partner of Orthphoto in Romania is Filos Publishing House.

The Centre for Touristic Promotion Association in Iaşi has been established as part of the project for The Rehabilitation and Touristic Development of Golia Monastery Historical Monument Ensemble and its scope is to restore, protect, preserve and to promote the sights in Iași department in order to create and develop tourism.
