Fellowship of Orthodox Youth continuing a long-term tradition organizes this year a photographic competition called:

"Orthodox sacred art"

Organizers are waiting for works completed by means of any photographic technique showing various signs of Orthodox Church’s existence (objects and sacred art, reviews of Orthodox works, participation of clergy and the faithful in everyday and festive life of Orthodox Church, religion at school, pilgrimage).

We invite to taking part in the competition also those photographers who are not connected with Orthodox Church.


RULES OF THE COMPETITION
1. The competition is of the open nature.
2. There are two age categories:
- up to 18 years of age (cat. A)
- over 18 years of age (cat. B)
3. Participation is free of charge.
4. Everybody can send an unlimited number of colourful or black and white pictures.
5. The smallest size of a picture is 15x21 cm, we advise you not to send pictures bigger than 30x40 cm.
6. At the back of each picture there should be:
- title
- name
- age category (A or B)
- in case of a set of pictures the number of a picture in a set
You should also include a handwritten application with all the information above and address, telephone number and a signature.
7. Works which have been already published can take part in the competition but we ask you not to send pictures which have taken part in the previous editions of the competition.
8. Pictures should be properly packed so that they do not get damaged during the transportation (we advise you inflexible envelopes). Organizers do not take responsibility for damages or losses of mailed works.
9. Organizers reserve the right to free publication of the pictures in the press, TV and a catalogue in order to advertise the exhibition.
10. Prize-winning works can be taken back at the FOY in Białystok when the exhibitions are finished.
12. Participants will be notified by mail or phone about the results of the competition and the date of the exhibition.
After the first exhibition in the Centre of Orthodox Culture in Białystok another exhibitions are planned in different places.
13. Pictures which do not fulfil the requirements (size, description), which are not consistent with the topic or which might offend religious feelings will not be admitted to the competition.
14. Interpretations of the rules and the verdict of the jury are not to be cancelled.
15. Media patronage over the exhibition was taken by OrthPhoto service and a nationwide monthly magazine „Przegląd Prawosławny”.


SCHEDULE
- sending or bringing works until 30 November 2004
- session of the jury
- notifying the participants about the results of the competition and the date of the exhibition until 15 January 2005
- returning the works until the end of June 2005
