Russian Bazaar
All Saints Orthodox Church - Russian Bazaar
"It's the most wonderful time of the year - November brings the annual Russian Tea Room and Bazaar, an event that captivates anyone Russian, or wishing they were. The Tea Room dining area will feature delicious ethnic foods, and the various booths will offer imported Russian specialty items such as lacquer boxes, nesting dolls, lace shawls and more. Also available will be beautiful plants, craft items, delicious desserts, and games for the children." - from their website invitation http://allsaintshartford.org) to last year's edition of the bazaar.
This is a local tradition that allows on one hand, the Russians and Ukrainians in that area (Hartford, Connecticut, USA) to meet their co-nationals, as well as offering others interested in the Russian traditions, an opportunity to come into contact first hand with some interesting aspects of Russian culture, and on the other hand it brings people who may have drifted away, back into the church. The Bazaar secular activities take place in the basement of the church where the parishioners meet every Sunday after the Holy Liturgy.
