October 6, 2004 Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church has ranked Fyodor Ushakov to the whole Church in the face of the holy righteous. Memory is committed (Julian calendar) on 23 May, 23 July and 2 October. Fyodor Ushakov (in the church calendar warrior Theodore Sanaksarsky) is revered as the patron saint of Russia navy (since 2000) and Strategic Air Force (since 2005).

There were discussion in Russian Orthodox Church about canonisation of Admiral Theodore. Eventually they accepted Him as a local saint in Saran diocese.

After watching this icon i have a question: he was fighting/defending/helping Russia or Orthodox Church. On the icon is written, that He was first of all russian soldier. It's interresting for me why ROC canonised him.
