There is a history about this monasteries and many others in the United States. Under the Greek banner they have (in conjunction with local bishops) been more or less founded by the Elder Ephraim of the Holy Mountain. He was the Abbot of Philotheou until he received the call to establish monasticism in this country. There are now about 18 of these monasteries in the, mostly nuns. St Anthony's in Florence, Arizona is a marvel, about six churches on the grounds. And very beautiful.
