Cerkiew w Curtea de Arges   ulubione
XIV-wieczna, nieczynna, ksiazeca cerkiew pw. Sw. Mikolaja w Curtea de Arges (Rumunia). Slynie z ciekawych, dobrze zachowanych freskow wewnatrz - np. Bogurodzica w stanie blogoslawionym (wyraznie widac zarysowany "brzuszek"), podobno wizerunek baaardzo rzadko spotykany w ikonografii.

The Princely Court feudal pile from Arges was originally built by the Romanian voivode Seneslau during the 13th century. At the beginning of the following century, under the rule of Basarab I(1310-1352)- the voivode of Tara Romaneasca – the churc, the princely palace on the eastern side along with the tower and the yard walls were erected. In the 16th century Neagoe Basarab(1512-1521)- another voivode of Tara Romaneasca-built the princely house on the northern side.
The former princely church erected on the ruins of an ecclesiastical building from the 13th century has the shape of “an tinscribed greek cross” type of a plan and it served a a necropolis of the first Basarabs and of some other boyar families, the monument has kept in good conditions the original painting from the 14th century, as well as fresco fragments dating from the 18th and the 19th century.
The princely palace and church are, as a plan representative types of traditional Romanian painting.
The feudal pile was restaured and consolidated between 1748-1752, 1827-1848, 1911-1929 and 1967-1972 periods in wich important arheological discoveries was made.

I take some pictures of this church, before resrtoration. There is frescos painted in the XIV-th or the XV-th century, and the figures are extremely real! The makers are some unknown roumanians painters, but the results are impressive!

I think that this church is a waivodal church of Saint Nicolae in Curtea de Arges. As I remember, near this church are the ruins of the waivodal court, that are here in the first plan. This church has a huge importance for the history of christianity of our people, so since 15 years ago it has been restaured by a group of students from the Academy of Arts. In 1923, the historian Nicolae Iorga afforded only a reconditioning of the exterior painting. Now the church is repainted, actually.

Multumesc mult! M-as bucura ca dupa restaurare sa fie data in folosinta! Din pacate, inca mai avem biserici muzeu.
So, now I see. The church is in restauration. I hope after it it will be used for services. I really don't like to see churches as museums.

Yes, it's not living church. There is some kind of museum. One lady carry about it and explain about history of this church. It's old church of palace which don't exist now. We can see there very unusual frescos of Mother of God... pregnant...

In 1923, Nicolae Iorga si-a permis doar o reconditionare a picturii interioare. Acum se comite o repictare!

yes, this is nice. Oh, Mariusz, believe me, I don't know where is this church actually, I suppose it is closed, because I don't remember to visit it :)
