I agree with you both. Maybe I shouldn't have labeled it an "icon." I thought it was a pretty interesting piece of art, esp. how it turned out after photographing. Thanks for the comments.

I agree with "codre". Our - orthodox - art intends not to express sentiment, but to lift us in the heights (to meet God, of course, and to know what is really real). That is what one means with "opposition with pathetic" and so on. Therefore we stress the Resurrection more than the Cross. Or better to say, the Cross, but only through the Resurrection.
