As you can see, NO WORDS ABOUT STATUES.
gabriel772007.08.16 [11:13]
The Seventh Ecumenical Council proclamation:
"We define that the holy icons, whether in color, mosaic, or some other material, should be exhibited in the holy churches of God, on the sacred vessels and liturgical vestments, on the walls, furnishings, and in houses and along the roads, namely the icons of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, that of our Lady the Theotokos, those of the venerable angels and those of all saintly people. Whenever these representations are contemplated, they will cause those who look at them to commemorate and love their prototype. We define also that they should be kissed and that they are an object of veneration and honor (timitiki proskynisis), but not of real worship (latreia), which is reserved for Him Who is the subject of our faith and is proper for the divine nature, ... which is in effect transmitted to the prototype; he who venerates the icon, venerated in it the reality for which it stands."

This is well within the ORTHODOX TRADITION, unless by that you mean the late byzantine tradition alone. Statues were used even in Constantinople both before and even after the iconoclastic controversy; likewise, statues were known in other Orthodox churches too, for instance in the North-Western parts of Russia.
And ten we have of course, the Western churches, that were Orthodox for more than one thousand years, that also used statues.
So, yes, THIS IS ORTHODOX.

fro Radu P: i agree that sculpture is not orthodox tradition but this is a ortodox sacral sculpture and in front of her happend many miracles.
gabriel772007.08.15 [14:28]
This kind of art (sculpture) is outside of the orthodox tradition. That is the truth. I hope none will be offended.
Lekovicl2007.08.15 [13:26]

Dear Danjila: Thank you for this beautiful treasure from the Holy riches of our faith and our Orthodoxy. You have given all of us who view these pages a great gift.
Radu P.2007.08.15 [00:37]
this statue is much further from orthodoxy than my poor red candle!:D
...and it represents one of the most treasured sacral objects in Serbia.
perovict2007.08.15 [00:27]
It was exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum in New York from March 23 2004 – July 5 2004
The name of the exhibition was Byzantium: Faith and Power (1261–1557)
The sculpture of Mother of God from Sokolica Monastery was brought there from the western portal of the Banjska Monastery in order to be hidden from the Turks. The cult of Sokolica Virgin has always enjoyed a great reputation among the people, regardless of their confession...
