Ovakva skulptura Bogomajke sa Mladencem u narucju se nalazila iznad ulaza u Studenicku crkvu. Bila je uradjena od mermera kao i sama crkva. Sa njom je tada uradjena skulptura iznad ulaza. Ta skulptura Presvete Bogorodice sa Hristom u narucju je bila skoro jedinstvena u Svetu.

The Seventh Ecumenical Council proclamation:
"We define that the holy icons, whether in color, mosaic, or some other material, should be exhibited in the holy churches of God, on the sacred vessels and liturgical vestments, on the walls, furnishings, and in houses and along the roads, namely the icons of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, that of our Lady the Theotokos, those of the venerable angels and those of all saintly people. Whenever these representations are contemplated, they will cause those who look at them to commemorate and love their prototype. We define also that they should be kissed and that they are an object of veneration and honor (timitiki proskynisis), but not of real worship (latreia), which is reserved for Him Who is the subject of our faith and is proper for the divine nature, ... which is in effect transmitted to the prototype; he who venerates the icon, venerated in it the reality for which it stands."

This is well within the ORTHODOX TRADITION, unless by that you mean the late byzantine tradition alone. Statues were used even in Constantinople both before and even after the iconoclastic controversy; likewise, statues were known in other Orthodox churches too, for instance in the North-Western parts of Russia.
And ten we have of course, the Western churches, that were Orthodox for more than one thousand years, that also used statues.
So, yes, THIS IS ORTHODOX.

Само без срџбе, пост је, а и треба да поучимо оне који нешто не знају. Чињеница је да је скулптура ређа појава у православљу, те може да изазове забуне, али је исто тако чињеница да је ова скулптура од стране светских историчара уметности ''византијске'' - православне традиције оцењена као велике вредности

skulptura se nazva Sokoličkom jer se trenutno nalazi u Manstiru Sokolica a inače je do plastike sa Crkve u Manastiru Banjska te se naziva još i Bogorodicom Banjskom. Verovatno će biti vraćena u Banjsku tokom obnove manastirskog kompleksa i vraćanja istog u stanje kakav je bio kada ga je podigao Sveti Kralj Milutin.
