A part of my family is from that region of Poland. As I was taught: Someone had a vision (a revelation) during a cholera epidemic in 18th century, that those people that would drink water ONLY from the spring, that was flowing from that place (the place at the base of that hill) will survive. That was just a message received by traditional means. And Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church memorialize that event. (I think that there were plenty of such events at that time, it was just a way of communication.)
